10 Facts About Alaska That Make You Want to be a Drag Queen

Alaska Thunderfuck 5000, or simply “Alaska,” is a drag queen from Pittsburgh, PA who first made an appearance on Rupaul’s Drag Race, Season 5.  On June 23rd, 2015, Alaska dropped her debut album “Anus,” a pop album with mixed genres and comedic themes.  Here are some facts about Alaska that will make you want to spend those dollar bills on her new album:

1) Alaska is a model.

Alaska is more of a glamour beauty queen.  Alaska and drag queens Willam Belli and Courtney Act joined together in 2014 for their “American Apparel Ad Girls” ad campaign.  You can watch their “American Apparel Ad Girls” music video here.

2) Alaska is a pop star.

Alaska’s debut album “Anus” sparked the club scene with hit songs “This is My Hair” and “Your Makeup is Terrible.”  Songs range from comedic to club genres, and her music videos are to die for.

3) Alaska doesn’t wear wigs.

While most drag queens do not have enough length to feel their oats, Alaska swears by taking vitamins and embracing her own hair.

4) Alaska is out of this world.

No seriously, she’s from the planet Glamtron.  She was found in a spacecraft that crashed in the Matanuska Valley of Alaska in March of 1966.

5) Alaska has famous nails.

Alaska teaches us “if you are not wearing nails, you are not doing drag.”  While she sometimes wears short nails, she usually flaunts longer, more elegant nails to accentuate her glamour beauty queen look.

6) Alaska has a YouTube series with her brother Corey.

Corey Binney and Alaska do not share the same last name, but they swear they’re related.  Watch “Bro’Laska” to see a drag queen and her brother discuss random topics.

7) Alaska has catchphrases.

The first thing you should do if you see Alaska is say “hieeeeeeeeeeee” in the most drawn-out, annoying, nasal voice to greet her.  She will often introduce herself by saying “my name’s yours, what’s Alaska?”

8) Alaska’s a philanthropist.

Alaska and drag star Willam featured a song called “Ride for AIDS,” which promotes the 2015 event AIDS/LifeCycle in California.  Alaska also participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and she donated $120 in one-dollar bills to The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association.

9) Alaska shares her name with a strain of marijuana.

Also known as Matanuska Thunder Fuck, this strain of Cannabis sativa comes from the same part of Alaska as Alaska herself.

10) Alaska is just like you.

Alaska will be the first to let you know:  your makeup is terrible.  But it’s OK because hers is too.
